The Catalina is in RNZAF colours - they flew them in the Pacific theatre in WW2.

well I mean technically aerodynamics is very similar to fluid dynamics. the viscosity and buoyancy being the main difference.

I guess the similarity in shapes is what caught the artist’s intention. Convergent evolution and all that.
